Synaesthesia is an interactive photography exhibition by Ben Lesko. The exhibition is a collection of colour and black & white portraits, landscapes and abstract photographs.

Synaesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sense involuntarily triggers another, such as seeing colours when hearing sounds or tasting words. The term is from Ancient Greek σύν syn ‘together’ and αἴσθησις aisthēsis ‘sensation’.

The photographs in Synaesthesia are paired with carefully chosen pieces of music. Sometimes it’s the tune, sometimes it’s the lyrics, but each shifts the way how the image is experienced — either altering its mood, adding new layers of meaning, or even creating unexpected contrasts.

Each photograph is accompanied by a QR code, so visitors can use their devices to access the music and fully experience the exhibition.
